Richard Lee “Dick” Bartrug, 82, of Morgantown, passed away on September 20, 2025 at his home. He was born May 5, 1943, son of the late George and Arlice (Merrifield) Bartrug.
Richard devoted 25 years of his career as a foreman with the West Virginia Department of Highways, working diligently at the Goshen Road location. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, remembered for his warm spirit, unwavering devotion to his family, and many contributions to the community. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched and in the cherished memories his loved ones will forever hold dear.
Richard is survived by his devoted daughter, Shelley S. Buseman and her husband William; loving son, George R. Bartrug; cherished granddaughter, Heather Cochran; and his great- granddaughters, Carlee Cochran and Christina Farmer. He also leaves behind his faithful pet companion, Oreo, who brought joy and comfort to his later years.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Barbara Grace Bartrug.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, WV on Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 3 to 7 PM and Friday September 26 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM with Rev. Stanley Merrifield officiating. Interment will follow at Nicholson Cemetery.
