Richard M. Benninger, 71, of Wooster, died Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Ohios LifeCare Hospice.
Richard was born August 2, 1951 in Wooster to Richard L. and Freda {Ogden} Benninger.
Richard graduated from Northwestern High school class of 1969. He proudly served with the United States Army.
He married Becky Stauffer on September 8, 1982.
He worked for Century Link before retiring after 48 years. He attended Parkview Christian Church of Wooster. Richard was a member of the Wooster Elks 1346. He loved being outside in his garden, sitting around the fire with his family, and watching golf.
Richard will be deeply missed by his wife; children David (Remiko) of Union KY, Abigail Benninger of Canberra, Australia; mother Betty Becker; brothers Robert (Pat), Dan (Cheryl) Becker, Dave (Cheryl) Becker; sisters Virginia (Roger) Shy, Brenda (Dave) Hyde, Joyce (Jeff) Grant, and Jane (Nick) Biniker.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Freda, father Dempsy Becker, and brother David.
Friends may call Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial, where military rites will be held. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.
