BONKOWSKI, Richard E. "Dick" – of Chesaning, went to be with his Lord, Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Memorial Healthcare in Owosso. He was 88 years of age.
Dick was born June 30, 1937, in Saginaw to the late Edward and Angeline (Kaczmarek) Bonkowski. Dick was a 1955 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. He served in the US Air Force after graduation from high school. He was united in marriage to Rosalie Belko on September 17, 1960, and was a resident of Chesaning since 1974 coming from Shields. Mr. Bonkowski retired from General Motors as a Tool and Die Maker and also owned A & B Bookkeeping as an accountant, CPA and was also a realtor. He loved studying. He enjoyed hunting, sailing, RVing to Texas after he retired from GM, and also was a flight instructor. Friends remember him for his sense of humor. Dick was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the UAW.
Surviving are: wife, Rosalie; children: Rick (Charlene) Bonkowski, Beverly (Al) Strouse, Jodi Birchmeier, and Barbara (Michael) Mesh; grandchildren: Dana, Dawn, Dustin, Blake, Wade, Joshua, Jacob, Joslin, Emily, and Scott; great-grandchildren: Ariana, Aundrea, Alex, Avery, Bryson, Zander, Brayden, Freya, Ava, and Addison; sister, Loraine Martin Walraven; other loving family and friends. He was also preceded in death by "Buddy," his cat, his joy and best friend.
Visitation will be held at Misiuk Funeral Home on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 1-6pm where a prayer service will be held at 6pm. Burial will be held in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 1 pm Thursday, November 6, 2025. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the charity of one's choice. You may light a memorial candle or share a memory at misiukfuneralhome.com.
