He was married to Tuyen Bonkowski, who married on September 14, 1971. Lucian Sr. worked as a Civil engineer for USA ID and was a member of the local Blue Knights and VFW. Lou was an active member of the community and served as a volunteer of the Clay County and Jacksonville Police department. Lucian was an active golfer up until the age of 95. He was a friend to many and often referred to as "Pops" on the golf course.
Predeceased by: Julia Detrick and Paul Bonkowski. Lou is survived by his wife Tuyen Bonkowski, Yolanda Bonkowski, children, son in laws, and daughter in laws; Ian Nelson, and wife Janda Wilson, Theresa Frail, and husband Jerold J Frail Jr., James Bonkowski Sr, and wife, Cindy Bonkowski, Lisa Krueger, Jonie Spirito, Lucy Seigel, and husband Robert Seigel. Grandchildren: Shawn Gutzdorf, Aaron Gutzdorf, Lucian Bonkowski III, Jennifer Bonkowski, Kelly Taylor, Dreese Bonkowski, Tammy Bonkowski, Daniel Wilson, Stephanie Wilson, Ali Nelson, Kacey Nelson, Roxanne Rosier Uribe, Victor Rosier, Leonard Rosier, Edmin Trupil, Katherine Frail, Jerry Frail III, Jessica Frail, Samantha Homitz, James Bonkowski Jr., Chelsea Seigel, Andrew Seigel, and God child, Gabrielle Saunders.
Great Grand Children: Olivia Wilson, Katy Painschab, Caraline Painschab, Lucian Bonkowski IV, Halona Bonkowski, Vaughn Bonkowski, Vincent Bonkowski, Vander Bonkowski, Savannah Gutzdorf, Bennet Gutzdorf, Taylor Gutzdorf, Jayden Fortenberry, Ashlee Gutzdorf, Karissa Gutzdorf, Madison Schlipf, and Holly Schlipf
A life celebration will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 15th, 2025 at VFW Post 5968 - 187 Arora Blvd, Orange Park, FL 32073 for his immediate family and friends to honor his life, service, commitment and selflessness. Lou's infectious positivity and humor will be missed by all. In leu of Flowers, please donate to Heartland Hospice, Blue Knights, VFW or St. Judes. All are encouraged to share photos, condolences, and other remembrances of Lou on the Tribute Wall here.
