Richard Lee Boxwell, Jr., 91, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Spring Arbor of Winchester.
Dick was born in 1932 in Winchester, VA, the son of the late Richard Lee Boxwell and Anna Mariah Pitzer. He was a graduate of Southwestern University in Washington D.C. where he earned his bachelor's degree in business administration. He retired as President of Zeropak Company. Dick served our country during the Korean War in the United States Navy. He was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church in Winchester. Dick was a member of the Exchange Club, Moose Club, Esquire Club, and the Shenandoah Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association. He was former treasurer of Braddock Street UMC and was a 30+ year member of the church choir. Dick was an avid golfer as well as former president of the Winchester Country Club.
He married Patricia Ebert on October 9, 1954, in Winchester. She preceded him in death on March 3, 2023.
Dick is survived by his daughters, Laura Lofton (Marcus Lemasters) of Chincoteague, VA, Ellen Laramore (David) of Thurmont, MD; sons, Richard Boxwell, III (Tammy) of Winchester, VA, Christopher Boxwell of Clear Brook, VA; grandchildren, Sean Lofton of Stephenson, VA, Matthew Lofton of Winchester, VA, Corey Boxwell of Stephenson, VA, Morgan Hinkle of Clear Brook, VA, Benjamin Boxwell of Martinsburg, WV, Joshua Laramore of Virginia Beach, VA, Peyton Laramore of Abingdon, MD and Madigan Laramore of Thurmont, MD; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife, Dick is preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor "Peggy" McInturff.
A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Services will be held for Dick on Friday, March 29, 2024 at 1:30pm at Braddock Street United Methodist Church with Reverend Kirk Nave officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Suite 405, Winchester, VA 22601, or to Braddock Street United Methodist Church at 115 Wolfe Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
