Richard Thomas Boyer was born on April 18, 1949, in Milledgeville, Georgia, to the late Thomas Boyer, Jr. and late Mary Archer Boyer.

He spent his early years in Hancock County where he attended grade school in Linton before graduating from Sparta High School. In February 1974, Richard married Jewell Elizabeth McMichael where they eventually made their home in Milledgeville, GA. Richard dedicated 40 years of service to Georgia Power Company before retiring. He was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life, and in his later years, Richard enjoyed planting his garden and prepping the dove field on the family farm in Beulah, GA.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Jane Boyer and his brother, Kenny Boyer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jewell McMichael Boyer of Milledgeville, his three sons, Richard Boyer, Jr. (Jill) of Eatonton, GA, Carmon Boyer (Kim) of Panama City, FL, and Lance Boyer (Maggie) of Statham, GA.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Rhett Boyer, Seth Boyer, Tabitha Boyer, Thomas Boyer, Molly Boyer, Lance Boyer, Jr., Andi Boyer, and Owen Boyer.

Richard is also survived by his brother Barney Boyer (Anne) of Milledgeville, sister Mary Frances Dobler (Al) of Coopers, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Extra Special People, Inc 189 VFW Drive Watkinsville, GA 30677.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5th at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Pickard officiating with burial to follow at Baldwin Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends on Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Moores Funeral Home.

Moores Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
