Richard Brant

Richard Dwayne Brant, 80, of Knob Noster, passed away Friday, September 5, 2025, at Bothwell Regional Medical Center in Sedalia, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Rich was born November 9, 1944, in Knob Noster, the son of Emerson and Helen (Strickland) Brant. On February 2, 1968, he and Sharon Webster were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church in Knob Noster.

Rich proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life he carried with pride and honor.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharon Brant; his children, Shawn Brant and Angie (Larry) Bolton; his grandsons, Lane, Luke, and Levi Bolton; his brother, Charles Brant; as well as many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emerson and Helen Brant, and three siblings, JD Brant, Mary Baxter and Dale Brant.

Rich truly loved farming and had a special fondness for Allis-Chalmers tractors. He found joy in the simple things-country music, cheering for the Royals, Mizzou, and the Chiefs, and spending time with his Wednesday morning breakfast group. Above all, he took immense pride in following his grandsons' sporting events, always their biggest fan.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Heartland Church north of Knob Noster. Interment will follow in Knob Noster Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lane Bolton, Luke Bolton, Levi Bolton, Phil Brant, Roger Brant, Kerry Blevins, Jeremy Brant, Trevor Bolton and Xavier Ortiz. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Brant, Bill Storck, Roger Harms, Larry Boosinger and Howard Evans.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Heartland Church and left in care of Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home.
