To my dear friend's family,

I was stationed with your Dad on Guam in the late 80's. We lived in the Chief's barracks and took most of our evening meals in the Chow Hall.
He took me flying one time and taught me how to fly. We worked on cars together at the base Hobby Shop. He was at my house all the time and never paid for a cup of coffee or a meal.

I just found his obit tonight. I knew he'd been struggling with lung disease. I'm pretty sad right now.

You should know that we never had a conversation where he didn't mention his daughters and grandkids. He loved you all very much.

A little teary-eyed,

Nick McConnell
