Richard William Burger

Edina - Burger, Richard William Age 94, of Edina, Minnesota, passed away July 29, 2025. Preceded in death by parents, beloved wife Margaret ("Peggy"), and first cousin (like a brother) James Thunes. Richard, known to his friends as Dick, spent his career in the packaging industry, which took the family from Mississippi to Kentucky to Illinois and finally setting in Edina. Originally from Menominee, Michigan, Richard served in the military as a member of a U.S. Army band. He was an accomplished musician, playing both clarinet and alto sax - often in the first chair - with a love of music he shared with his family. In their retirement, Richard and Margaret traveled across the U.S., spending summers in an RV anywhere from Alaska to Florida, where Richard practiced nature photography and his golf swing. He was known for, and teased about, his "perfect Edina lawn." Survived by daughters, Cathy and Jackie (Vicky Mecl), grandchildren, Virginia Burger, Edward Mecl, and William Mecl (Anthony Mecl); many other relatives.
