Richard D. Coffman, 83, of Lafayette, IN passed away at IU Arnett Hospital Sunday October 5, 2025 at 5:35 PM after a brief illness. He was born in Templeton, IN January 22, 1942, the son of the late Luther Glenn and June Rose (Jarrell) Coffman and was a 1960 graduate of Oxford, IN High School. Richard married Margaret D. Burk at Franklin, IN March 18, 1963 and she preceded him in death May 20, 2018. He served in the U.S. Army for nine years and then 12 years in the U. S. Navy during the Viet Nam War before he retired. He later was employed for 26 years in the Purdue Grad School student records department before retiring in 2010. Richard was a member of the Masonic Lodge, enjoyed bowling and was an avid New York Yankees fan. Surviving is a daughter, Susan Gogal of Sayre, OK; three sons, Jon Coffman of Oxford, IN, Cory Coffman of Fowler, IN and Andrew Coffman (Tina) of Oxford, IN along with 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers Randy and Dave Coffman and two step-sons Richard and Kenneth Switzer. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Oxford Chapel from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM Thursday October 9, Pastor Chuck Tague officiating. The interment will be held in Oxford West Cemetery with military honors by the Lafayette American Legion Post 11. Those desiring may contribute in memoriam to the Town of Oxford Parks Department.
