Richard Cook Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Inc. on Dec. 11, 2025.
Richard N Cook, 72, of Edwardsville, Kansas, lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at his daughter's home.

Richard was born on September 23, 1953, in Duncan, Oklahoma. He spent much of his life on the road in the cab of an 18-wheeler, proudly retiring from AWG. He shared his love with time and gifts. Whether long, often very quiet, days on the lake fishing, or randomly handing you something he picked up somewhere that reminded him of you. He loved to smile and laugh, listen to good music, and always had a joke to tell. He would spend hours teaching you how to use a CB radio, change a tire, or cast a line. He loved to blacksmith, tinker, build, and garden.

Richard was proceeded in death by his father Jack Cook and mother Pearl Wood, his father and mother- in law Neil and Mary Ellen Porter, his brother and sister-in-law Robbie and Dee Cook, his sister and brother-in-law Debra and Tommy Alexander, nephew, Christopher Sharber; niece, April Dudley, his wife Kathryn Cook, his previous wife Deborah Cook, and son Jeremy Cook.

Richard is survived by many who love him. Among them: his brother and sister-in-law Steve & Phyllis Cook, his sister Laura Dudley; his sisters-in-law Leah (Bob) Pease, Elizabeth Porter, two brothers-in-law Mark and Brad Porter; his previous sister-in-law Alice and Larry Self; so many nieces and nephews; his daughters, Jana (Bryant) Jeffery, Amy Cook, Heather (Derek) Fine, and Stephanie Cook; his future sons-in-law, Richard Trezza and Daniel Giles; 10 grandchildren, Alanna (Dallas) Cook, Morgan Briggs, Stephen Jeffery, Kai Jeffery, Avi (Michael) Urton, , Alexander Cook, Collin Martin, Henry Fine, Emmet Fine, and Gabriel Trezza.

Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 5pm to 7pm Saturday, December 20th, at the Harrington Family Event Center, 218 Oak St. in Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
