Richard Dale Baumler, 87, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of Thursday, February 8, 2024.
Richard was born on January 31, 1937, in Ossian, Iowa, to the late Vincent Baumler and Ellen Baumler Gager Stevens. Following his high school education, Richard proudly served in the United States Air Force for eight years. Richard’s commitment to his country continued in civil service as a hydraulics specialist on Robins Air Force Base until his retirement after 33 years. Even after retiring, Richard remained industrious for an additional 13 years, contributing his skills to Winn Dixie.
A devout Christian, he became an integral part of Shirley Hills Baptist Church in 1970, where his commitment to his beliefs was evident in his service as a deacon and on various committees.
Beyond his service and faith, Richard had a passion for craftsmanship. He found joy in woodworking. He built birdhouses and crafted furniture. Richard also loved tending to his yard and delighted in cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Baumler, Eleanor Molokken, Virginia Gage, Charles Baumler, and Rosalyn Lucas.
Richard’s memory will be cherished by his wife of 64 years, Sarah Baumler; children, Vincent D. Baumler (Anna), and Colinda E. Jeter (Don); grandchildren, Richard Jeter (Lizzie), Cody Baumler (Hayley), and Christian Baumler (Kristie); great-grandson, Avery Baumler; and sister, Waneta Gage (Keith).
Visitation will be Monday, February 12, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating a life well-lived will be immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Andy Cook officiating. Afterward, Richard will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens.
