Richard R. Deleonardo, age 79, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
Born with a strong sense of duty and a heart for service, Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he continued his commitment to protecting others as a police officer in New Orleans.
Richard had a generous spirit and a giving heart-always ready to help those in need, often offering his wisdom and advice, whether asked for or not. His straightforward nature was matched with a good sense of humor that brought smiles to those around him. He found joy in the simple things: reading a good book, solving crossword puzzles, and watching classic Westerns, which he deeply loved. So much so, his family arranged for a dedicated streaming service just so he could enjoy his favorite cowboy films.
Later in life, Richard made his home in Texas, where he was embraced by his new extended family, who affectionately called him "Grandpa." He found comfort and belonging in their love, becoming a cherished figure in their lives.
Richard's legacy is one of service, humor, and heartfelt connection. He will be remembered fondly and missed deeply by all who knew him. Survived by Lucky Jimenez, Ricardo Licon, Juana Jimenez, Jose and Ruth Tamayo and Victor and Valerie. His beloved fur baby "Runt".
