Richard “Dick” Francis DeRyckere 1938 – 2025
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose legacy lives on in every life he touched.
Richard “Dick” Francis DeRyckere, age 86, passed away peacefully on October 18th, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted, passionate, and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Dick leaves behind a legacy of love, craftsmanship, and quiet strength.
Married to his beloved wife Patricia (Pat) for 64 years, Dick was the cornerstone of a large and close-knit family. Together, they raised seven children: Jon (Carol), Mark, Joan Smith, Michael (Randy), Cathie Comis (Don), Chris (Gosia), and Terri Delong. His family grew to include 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, each of whom he cherished deeply. He is also survived by his brothers, Jim (Rita) and Ed.
Dick found joy in building and fixing anything he could get his hands on. He had a special passion for woodworking, woodcarving and remote-controlled airplanes, and was known for his kind and gentle soul.
A memorial service for all who knew and loved Dick will be held on Saturday, November 8th, at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, located at 343 S. Main Street, Romeo, MI 48065.
Family will gather privately at 9:00 AM. Visitation for guests will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by the service at 10:00 AM.
