Richard DeShong, 75, of Warner Robins, GA, passed away peacefully at his residence on July 30, 2025. Born on May 10, 1950, in Brooklyn, New York, Richard was the son of the late Paul and Lucille (Pompa) DeShong. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he attained the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring. His military career was marked by dedication, honor, and service. Richard was a devoted member of Southside Baptist Church and a man of deep faith. He found joy in life's simple pleasures-spending time outdoors fishing, watching baseball, and cheering for both the Braves and the Mets. Above all, Richard cherished his family, who were the light of his life and his greatest source of pride. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Keith DeShong. Left to treasure his memory are his beloved wife, Kathryn (Shaw) DeShong; daughter, Jennifer Graham; son, Kevin (Brandi) DeShong; grandchildren, Jacob Graham, Nora DeShong, and Wyatt DeShong; and several nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Richard's life will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory, with a visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Andersonville National Cemetery. Pastor Jerry Walls will officiate the service. With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
