Born on August 5, 1950, in McCook, Nebraska, Richard lived a life filled with love, adventure, and service. He was the beloved son of Norma and Loran Dike. Richard graduated from Adams City High School in Commerce City, CO in 1968, a milestone that set the stage for his future endeavors. Shortly thereafter, he answered the call of duty and served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. A proud veteran, Richard was awarded multiple honors for his bravery and dedication, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, The Air Medal, and The Distinguished Flying Cross. After returning from military service, Richard embarked on a career as a truck driver, a profession he embraced for several years before retiring in 2009. His adventurous spirit did not wane during retirement; he found joy in fishing, spending time with his family, and indulging in his love for garage sales. Richard was a man of many talents, often described as loving, stubborn, charismatic, and always ready for a new project. On July 16, 1989, Richard married the love of his life, Darlene Dike. Together, they shared a beautiful journey filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories. His family was his pride and joy, and he leaves behind his devoted wife, Darlene; his sister, Sheila Hatch (Steve); and his children: daughter Staci McCarty (Justin), son John Dike (Anne), and son Jeramie Dike. He was a proud grandfather to Brandon Williams, Graci McCarty, Crissa Morris (Brittney), Tinlee McCarty, Ashley Peterson (Connor), Christian Dike (Brittany), Dalton Dike (Liz), Skylar Sisch, and Kody Norvell. Richard is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will cherish his memory. Richard was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Norma; father, Loran; mother-in-law, Josie Donbraska; siblings Judy, Susan, and Dewayne; as well as his nephew Paul and niece Crystal.
