Richard Russell Dotson

Richard Russell Dotson, age 76 of Pikeville, passed from this earthly life, Tuesday June 18, 2024, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born in Delorme, West Virginia on May 13, 1948. He was a retired coal miner, a Minister and an Evangelist ministering as far as Jamaica. Like most people, Richard enjoyed many things in this life such as his love of nature, hunting, caring for his dogs, his love for motorcycles, but more than anything, he loved playing with his granddaughter Lexi, his "Sunshine".
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Everett and Mary Ann Layne Dotson also by one daughter, Tina Ann Dotson Allen.
Richard is survived by his wife, Nan Rachel Coleman Dotson, sons, Richie (Jeanne) Dotson of Chesterville, Virginia and Brian Dotson of Phelps, Kentucky, one daughter, Shanna (Dr. Tim) Lavender of Dwale, Kentucky, sisters Linda Bentley and Monica Trzcinski both of Florida as well as a host of other siblings, grandchildren, Marshall Dotson, Russell Dotson, Mitchell Frye, Amanda Frye, Lexi Lavender, Christin Lavender and Brandan Dotson as well as other grandchildren.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Tim Lavender, Richie Dotson, Eddie Dotson, Chad Ratliff, Carter Ratliff, Benji Ferguson, Rodney Smith, Harold Birchfield, Herman Blankenship and John McHale.
Visitation will be from 6-10 PM Thursday June 20, 2024 at J.W. Call and Son Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Service will held Friday June 21, 2024 11:00 AM at the funeral home. His son Richie Dotson will play a special song on banjo. Family friends Mary Wright and Ron Wright, will sing and play Richard's favorite hymns.
Dr. Tim Lavender, who he considered his son will be giving his eulogy.
There will be a private burial at a later date.
