Richard was the owner and operator of Duty Garage and Tire that he loved working in. He was always out and about, enjoyed buying and selling cars, trading and riding motorcycles. Richard loved his dogs and was a loving brother, uncle and friend to many and will be missed by many.
In addition to his parents Arvil and Edna Duty, he is preceded in death by his brother Randel Duty.
Survivors include his half-sister Renita Jayne Hess of Grundy, VA; nephew Randall Craig Duty of Cleveland, OH; niece Emily Willis and husband Jessee of Abingdon, VA; great niece Scarlett Willis; and several cousins and friends.
A memorial service for Richard Duty will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home, Grundy, VA.
