Bill Dotson

BILL DOTSON, 79, of Paw Paw, KY, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026, at his home following an extended illness. Born in Paw Paw, KY, he was the son of the late Arthur and Lula Mae (Estep) Dotson. He was a lifelong resident of Pike County, KY, and was a member of Kelsa Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Bill served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was awarded two purple hearts. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was a coal miner. He loved reading, Bible trivia, watching westerns and Louis L'Amour books.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Lily Mae (Wolford) Dotson; Grandson: Joseph Paul Hurley; Brothers: Paul Dotson and Harold Dotson; Sisters: Edith Dotson and Carol Wolford; Brothers-in-Law: Larry Wolford and Burlin Wolford; Daughter-in-Law: Linda Dotson.

Those left to cherish his memory include Children: Ralph (Myrtle) Dotson of Paw Paw, KY, Charlie (Mechelle) Dotson of Hurley, VA, Kathy Dotson (Mike Estep) of Hurley, VA, Michael (Rose) Dotson of Hurley, VA, Shavonne (Mozee) Hurley of Taylorsville, NC, Eric Dotson of Hurley, VA; Grandchildren: Robert (Ceaira) Francis, Zach (Ashley) Dotson, Kasie (Bradley) McClanahan, Keaton (Peyton) Dotson, Mikey Dotson, Noah Hurley, Gabriel Hurley, Cameron Dingess and Drake Dingess; Great-Grandchildren: Rylee McClanahan, Hunter Francis, Ella McClanahan and Lucy Dotson.

Also, survived by Brothers: Larry (Lisa) Dotson of Hurley, VA, Dale (Donna) Dotson of Richlands, VA, Ed (Debbie) Dotson of Hurley, VA, Earnel Dotson of Hurley, VA; Sister: Margaret (Elsie) Stiltner of Big Rock, VA; Sisters-in-Law: Ann Wolford and Phyllis (Lloyd) Lester; Brother-in-Law: Elza (Brenda) Wolford; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Kelsa Chapel Freewill Baptist Church Saturday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Funeral Services for BILL DOTSON will be conducted Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at the Kelsa Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Ronnie Hurley, Ervin Hurley and Wilburn Dotson officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Full Military Rites by members of Childs Gentry Post No. 7360 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and John Ratliff Post No. 164 of the American Legion.
