Richard William Earhart, affectionately known as Rick, passed away on June 18, 2025, at the age of 72, in Bastrop, Texas.

Rick was born to Stanley and Elaine Earhart in St. Louis Missouri in 1952. The family moved to Fort Worth, Texas in 1968. After graduating from Carter Riverside High School he answered the call of duty and proudly served in the United States Air Force through 1974.

After the Air Force, his career spanned many years in the realms of construction and remodeling, where he applied his skills with pride and precision. There was nothing Rick couldn’t build or repair. If he didn’t know how, he would simply read a book about it, do it, then move on to the next project. Rick found joy and fulfillment in the simple pleasures of life, particularly relishing his time in nature and the love of family. He enjoyed playing softball, boating, fishing, riding motorcycles, watching the NASCAR races and old movies.

Upon retirement to Bastrop, TX in 2023 to be closer to his family, the last two years of Rick’s life were characterized by a profound appreciation for his family and country living, where he devoted himself to working on the land and cherishing moments spent with his granddaughter, Eisley. It was in these cherished interactions that he found his deepest joy and fulfillment. His enjoyment extended to evenings on the porch listening to old country music and enjoying the company of his cats while soaking up the quietude of living on acreage.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Karen, with whom he shared an enduring partnership for 46 years. His legacy continues through his beloved daughter, Natalie, and son-in-law, Simon Laulederkind, to whom Eisley was born. He is also survived by his sister, Sue Lehrberger, and his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, and a host of nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Elaine Earhart and his brother, Mark.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 26, at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church, located at 800 W. Fifth Street in Fort Worth, Texas. This gathering will honor Rick’s life and allow friends and family to share their memories of a man who touched many lives with his warmth and kindness. As we reflect on Rick’s life, we remember a simple and humble man dedicated to his family, his friends and his pets. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Rick's memory to a Texas-area Hospice or a local animal shelter.
