Richard Arthur Edwards

September 7, 1941 - December 4, 2025

Age 84, was born September 7, 1941, in Elmira, N.Y., the son of the late A. Reeve and Evelyn (Quigley) Edwards. He passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center after a brief illness. His brother, Joe Edwards, and sister, Donna Edwards, preceded him in death. Survivors left to cherish and honor his memory are his loving wife, Bonnie Rose (Granger) Edwards with whom he married July 1, 1995 in Charlottesville, Va.; son, David Edwards; grandsons, Joshua and Matt Beverly; sisters, Jeri Edwards, Jeannette Wright and Nina Byford; brothers, Jim (Kate) Edwards and Steve Edwards; along with several nieces and nephews. Richard was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country from 1960-1962 on the USS Des Moines CA135. Richard was formerly from Fluvanna County in Palmyra, Va. He retired from the Albemarle County School District after several years of dedicated service.

Services will take place at a later date and time in Virginia. Memorial donations may be directed to Caring for Creatures, 352 Sanctuary Road, Palmyra, VA 22963, or to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1333 Thomas Jefferson Parkway, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
