Richard Eid Obituary

Richard "Dick" Eid Richard "Dick" Eid, 92, of Montevideo passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Rosewood Assisted Living in Montevideo. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo, with interment at the Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Richard Edmund Eid was born on April 6, 1930, in Montevideo. He was the son of Edmund and Luella (Thomton) Eid. When Dick was just 18 months old, his mother passed away and he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Mildred and Elmer Kittelson. He was baptized on May 18, 1930, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo and later confirmed in his faith at Bergen Lutheran Church on August 20, 1944. He attended school in Montevideo and graduated in 1948. On May 27, 1951, Dick married Idell Anderson at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Together they were blessed with three children, Diane, Becky and David. One of the many values Dick passed on to his family was to "work hard, play hard" together. In the first 10 years of marriage, Dick had many varied jobs until he reached his goal of farming on his own. As all farmers, he worked hard and long, but loved farming. He worked side by side with Idell in their farming operation in rural Montevideo and involved the entire family from a young age. He was a self-taught, but accomplished welder. He had a natural talent to fix anything, and his friends and family all reaped the benefit. He became an unpaid spokesperson for "Shoe Goo" and swore there wasn't anything Shoe Goo couldn't fix! After the work was done, Dick led by example in showing his kids the importance of playing together - both with friends and family. He and Idell enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing and playing cards. Dick waterskied into his 70s. The annual fishing trip north was a yearly highlight. Dick was blamed for being the founder of "Eid Rules" for buck euchre. During retirement, Dick and Idell loved spending summers on Lake Miltona and winters in Mesa, Ariz. He most enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Following Idell's death, Dick was fortunate to find a special relationship with Ruth Redel. Together, they enjoyed pontoon rides on Lake Miltona, traveling and winters in Arizona. Dick is survived by his children, Diane (Jeff) Halbmaier of Hackensack; Becky (Keith) Amborn, and Dave (Loni) Eid, both of Montevideo; grandchildren, Marcus Kuno, Michelle (Troy) Jakobs, Kristin (Jason) Bisek, Nicholas (Emily) Amborn,Timothy Amborn, Charlynn (Brady) Dahl, Natasha Eid, Elliot (Sarah) Eid, Madeline (Shane) Ruether, Isabelle (fiance, Andrew Meyer) Eid; great-grandchildren, Mason and Gavin Kuno; Alliah, Taylor and Brielle Jakobs; Ayla, Arianna and Averi Bisek; Caelen, Berant, Autumn and Grant Amborn; Sonny, Sawyer, Marlo and Roman Dahl; Oliver and Lehti Eid; partner, Ruth Redel of Montevideo; sister, Linda (Brian) Schliep of Hudson, Wis.; brother-in-law, Arnold Nokleby of Montevideo; as well as other relatives and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Idell; Luella Eid (mother); Edmund Eid (father); Alice Eid (step-mother); Elmer Kittelson (uncle); Mildred Kittelson (aunt), Patricia Koffler (sister), Howard Anderson (brother-in-law); Eileen Nokleby (sister-in-law); and Norma Anderson (sister-in-law). Memorials received will be donated to CentraCare Hospice and Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Montevideo Endowment fund. Arrangements are with the Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Montevideo.
