Richard Lynn Elam, 69, of Belleville, IL, born on October 15, 1955 in Hamilton, OH, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, including during Operation Desert Storm. After retiring from the military, he continued his studies at Missouri Baptist College to pursue ministry. Richard was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his faith and love for God and his family guided his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Elam and Pat Baecker; his wives, Donna (Bicknell) and Carol (Anderson); his daughter, Jeanette; his granddaughter, Abigail; and his great-granddaughter, Noëlle.

Surviving are his sons, Roy (Ashley Maier), Josh (Emily Elam), and Jacob (Stephanie Elam); his brothers, Tom (Martha) and Donald (Ann); his sister, Pam; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his stepchildren and step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly.

Richard will be remembered for his faith, his service, and his deep love for God and his family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home, 210 North Kansas Street, Edwardsville, IL. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at saksafuneralhomes.com.
