Richard Elder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels & Cremation Services on Dec. 30, 2025.
Richard T. Elder, 81, beloved husband of Jacqueline (Jackie) Elder of Enfield, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025. Richard was raised in Wethersfield and was a longtime resident of Enfield. He retired after a distinguished 44-year career at Pratt and Whitney, and was proud to serve in the Army National Guard for 8 years.

Following his retirement, he pursued his love for golf and achieved several hole-in-ones. Among these accomplishments, he was especially proud of his 303-yard hole-in-one at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, which earned him a place in the 1986 Golf Digest record book. He also enjoyed traveling with family and friends, bowling, and playing pool.

He is survived by his daughter Kimberly and her husband Paul Richard of Suffield, CT his identical twin brother Robert Elder and wife Alma of Middlefield, CT, his best friend George Young, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Dorothy Elder, his brother John Henry Elder III, and a sister Barbara Williams.

Although Richard has left this world his gentle way, kindness, and smooth delivery of jokes will allow us all to remember him fondly.

His family will have a Celebration of Life at a future date.

In loving memory of Richard, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023

We miss and love Uncle Dick. I think this captures his gentle soul, his great jokes, and his ability as a great golfer. He will be deeply missed.

Dick was a pleasure to work with. One of the kindest men I have met. Rest easy.
