Richard G. Elza, age 74 of Moundsville, WV died Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at WVU Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV.
He was born October 19, 1949 in Glen Dale, WV, the son of the late John W. and Helen Meeker Elza.
He was a US Navy Veteran; a retired Correction Officer Corporal III from Northern Regional Jail/WV Penitentiary, having worked for 25 years; a member of New Life Assembly of God; a life-time member of the American Legion; he loved bowling; and was an avid Steelers Fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Aimee Nicole and Brittney Kayla Elza; and a sister, Barbara Elza Marchani.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Pearcy Elza; a daughter, Melissa (Josh) Norris of Moundsville; two step-daughters, Crystal J. (Dave) Wolgamott of Dover, OH and Candy (Brad) Calvert of St. Clairsville, OH; two grandchildren, Brady Gunn and Kenzie Norris; and five step-grandchildren, Christina Thorne, Leia Thorne, Ronevan Calvert, Noah Calvert, and Autumn Calvert; and a niece, Amanda Marchani Bruno.
Family will receive friends
Tuesday from 5-8pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 11am at New Life Assembly of God, 595 National Rd., Wheeling, WV with Pastor Brandon White officiating.
Following the luncheon at the church, Interment will be held at 2:30pm in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville with the Moundville Honor Guard conducting Military Graveside Services.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Life Assembly of God; with Richard Elza in the memo.
