Virgil Lee Elza, a resident of London, Kentucky, was born on March 1, 1947, in Clay County, Kentucky. He was the beloved son of the late Virgil Leslie Elza and Rostie Price. Virgil departed this life on April 25, 2025, at the age of 78.
He is survived by his children, Jessica Elza and fiancee Darren Hayden and Dwain Bailey, all of London, Kentucky, Zachary Elza of Corbin, Kentucky, and Heather Elza of Dayton, Ohio. Virgil also leaves behind his brother, David Frank Elza of East Bernstadt, Kentucky as well as his girlfriend Bridget Caldwell of London, eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends who will mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers; Kenneth Elza and William Elza.
Virgil was a skilled carpenter and laid flooring, dedicating his life to his craft. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army.
The funeral service for Virgil Lee Elza will be held at 12 noon on Thursday in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel, with Harold Harris officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in the Elza Cemetery in London with military honors conducted by American Legion post 88.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation starting at 11 am on Thursday at Bowling Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to Bowling Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
