Richard "Rick" James Followill, age 78, of Kirbyville, Missouri, passed away August 5, 2025, with family by his side. He entered this life on November 25, 1946, the son of Billie Royce Followill and Barbara Burke in Chicago, Illinois. Rick was joined in marriage to Celia Ann Viray on April 23, 1983.
Rick's love for travel shone through his journeys to his beloved Houston, the Philippines, and many other places. He found joy in sports-whether watching a game, being at the stadium, or collecting memorabilia-and was always a spirited supporter of the Houston Astros and Texans, while rooting against the Chiefs. Most of all, Rick treasured moments with his wife, children, and grandchildren. The memories from his seventy-eight wonderful years are gifts that will be lovingly held by all whose lives he touched.
Rick is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Celia Followill of Kirbyville, Missouri; son, James Followill of Branson, Missouri; son, RC Followill of Branson, Missouri; daughter, Sharla Followill of Bentonville, Arkansas; son-in-law, Weston Wilbanks of Bentonville, Arkansas; and three grandchildren: Shaiden, Gavin, and Kasen.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Altenburger; stepfather, Carl Altenburger; sister, Claudia Georges; and grandparents: Jim and Gwenn Burke.
There will be a memorial service held at a later date in the Philippines. Arrangement and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
