Richard Darwyn "Bud" Fox

Richard "Bud" Darwyn Fox, 90, of Burlington, NC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at home following a recent decline in health.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Hazel Parker Fox for 58 wonderful years and the late Bobbie Welch Fox for 2 years until her passing. He was the son of Virgil Fox and Virginia Hinshaw Fox, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy where he was stationed with Hazel on the island of Antigua. Bud enjoyed exploring the island on his motorcycle during his free time. After his time in the Navy, he was employed by Western Electric as a maintenance engineer for 36 years before retiring at age 55. Bud was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Alamance where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and choir member. More recently, he attended Hico Baptist Church where he was an active member until his decline in health. He was an avid golfer and a self-taught master woodworker, creating beautiful furniture for family, friends, and those in need.

Survivors include two children, Michael Fox and wife Christy of Burlington and Michelle Fox of Burlington; four grandchildren, Olivia, Mason, Ashley, and Jacqueline; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Jackie Coble, Patsy Miller, and Nell Johnson.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. by Pastor Dave Mros with the family receiving friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial for the family will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
