Richard "Dick" Freeh

Richard "Dick" Freeh passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 8, 2025, after living with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson's Disease for more than eight years. He was 76 years old and a resident of Mayfield Heights, Ohio.

Dick was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathy Jean (nee Doverspike) Freeh; his brother, Robert Freeh; his parents, Robert and Evelyn (nee Jones) Freeh; and grandson, Pascual Nicholls. He leaves behind his wife, Jane Freeh (nee Muth); siblings, Gary Freeh (Florence) and Mary Ellen Reed (Mike); children, Josh Freeh and Emily Nicholls (Paul); stepchildren, Dan and Andy Johnson (Kelly); and six grandchildren, Nicholas, Charlie, Annabel, Brendan, Franklin and Elena.

Born in Brookville, Dick earned his bachelor's degree from Grove City College and his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean.

He and his family settled on the east side of Cleveland in the early 1980s, but he always cherished returning to western Pennsylvania.

Dick had a deep respect for the natural world and science. Though he dreaded the winter and longed for spring, he often said it was "always a good day for a walk in the woods." He loved birdwatching and found peace in quiet observation.

He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, soft-spoken humor and steadfast kindness to people and nature.

Dick was a devoted father and husband, a playful grandfather and a loyal friend who always chose the peaceful path.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to InMotion, 23905 Mercantile Rd., Beachwood, OH 44122, a wellness center for people with Parkinson's Disease.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Noel Church, located at 35200 Chardon Road in Willoughby Hills, Ohio.

Interment will be private.
