Richard "Dick" Fugate, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on August 9, 2025. Born on July 22, 1942, in North Platte, Nebraska, Dick proudly served in the Air Force as a munitions technician in Libya during the Korean War. He began his career with the Bell System and worked in the telecommunications industry until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his father, Archie Fugate; his mother, Ruby Fugate; and his sons, Brian Fugate and stepson Andy Butrick.

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Marcia Fugate; his sister, Jenee (Ken) Bennett; and his children, daughter Dustie (Jeremy) Cole and son Richard (Jinthita) Fugate. He was a cherished grandfather to Ashleigh (Ryan) Wempe, Lauren (Sam) Fugate, Alexandra (Dillon) Fugate, Kaden Cole, Taylor Fugate, Kellen Cole, Tucker (Presley) Closman, Kenley Cole, Aspen Closman, and Ryder Cole. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Sophia and Olivia Wempe. Dick loved his role as a father and grandfather and always enjoyed making people laugh.

An avid fisherman and a talented cook, Dick found joy in simple pleasures, including a cold Miller Lite. He was also a passionate fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team, cheering them on with enthusiasm.

A memorial ceremony will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery on September 8th at 11:00 AM, with a celebration of life to follow at Brother's Tavern in North Platte.

In place of plants or flowers donations are being collected for a memorial to be established at Arrowhead Meadows Golf Course where Dick enjoyed many afternoons with family and his wife Marcia.
