Obituary For Richard Charles Getts Jr.
Richard Charles Getts Jr., 82 of Bowie, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023.
A memorial service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30th, at the Bowie First Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Martinez officiating.
Richard was born on July 30, 1941 in Chicago, IL to Richard Charles Sr. and Lady Irene Pender Getts. As a young boy, he moved to Tucson, AZ, and grew up in the area until he graduated high school. Richard then served his country in the United States Navy. After his service he started a lifelong career with Texas Instruments, working in maintenance for 35 years.
Richard was a member of the Bowie First Methodist Church. He enjoyed wood working, furniture refinishing, fishing, camping and country western dancing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Danny Wik, Nils "Sonny" Wik, and Tim Wik.
Richard is survived by his wife, Eunice Getts of Bowie; son, Sean Getts and wife Danielle of Corinth, TX, Timm Getts of Sherman, TX, Bryan Ford and wife Tanya of Allen, TX, and Alex Ford and wife Lucy of Plano, TX; daughter, Lady Meserve and husband Dan of Saint David, AZ; and sister, Lady "Tina" Petri of Tucson, AZ.
Should friends desire, memorials can be made in honor of Richard to the Bowie First Methodist Church.
