Richard Marion Govert, 88, of Brodhead and formerly of Orfordville, WI, passed into eternal life on Friday, June 6, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at the New Glarus Home, New Glarus, WI.
He was born on March 21, 1937 in Pierre, SD, the third of eight sons, born to Alphons and Agnes (Stockman) Govert. Richard was a graduate of Beloit Memorial High School.
Richard retired from General Motors after 40 years of service (although he had planned on retiring earlier but Pam changed his plans). He and Pamela were married June 2, 1984, enjoying many years together. Richard was an AA trap shooter and participated in many local and various state shoots prior to his failing eye sight and health. He was a member of the NRA, Isaak Walton, and UAW. Richard farmed many years on the family farm with a brother, Ray, before his marriage. He loved to tinker and could putz better than anyone. Richard was excellent at solving a challenge to build or make something. Everyone who knew Richard loved his sense of humor and antics. Richard loved his family and being "Dad" and "Grandpa" but especially "Grampa."
Richard is survived his loving wife, Pamela; daughters, Daina (Gary) Taylor and Cynthia (Brad) Clint; grandchildren, Korryn and Kassandra Clint, Aidan and Kira Lindsey; brothers, Louis (Karen) and Francis (Terry); sister-in-law, Diana Govert; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Gerald (Penny), Walter (Charlene), Leon, Ralph (Donna), and Ray Govert.
The family would like to thank Agrace Hospice, the New Glarus Home staff, and the 200 & 400 dementia wing for their wonderful care of Richard. Also, to the family and friends who took the time to keep in contact.
A Memorial Service for Richard will be at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI, with Fr. Jim Murphy officiating. A visitation of remembrance will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday before the service.
Memorials in his name may be given to the New Glarus Home, 600 2nd Avenue, New Glarus, WI 53574, Agrace Hospice, or to the Alzheimer's Association.
