Richard Earl Gray, Jr.

1966-2025

"He walked through storms most never saw and still found a way to offer sunshine to others." - Unknown

Richard Earl Gray Jr., age 58, of Ashland, Ky has laid down the burdens of this world, his soul slipping quietly into the peace he long sought in life on July 15, 2025.

Richard, affectionately known as Rich, was born on a warm Florida day in the summer of 1966 on August 19th. He was a blessing to his mother Fern Berrie Farmer who resides in Ashland, KY and his father Richard Earl Gray Sr. and his wife Sara who resides in Palatka, FL. Rich was a 1985 graduate of Boyd County High School and shortly after graduation he made his way back to the sun in Florida where he took a job at Pratt & Whitney. It was there that he developed his skill and craftmanship for welding that would later allow him to work for himself. Rich was a free spirit and loved a change of scenery, never calling one place home for too long. Rich's roots were not planted in one state or another but rather planted firmly in love for his family & friends. He adored them and loved family get togethers where he could let out his inner child and play for hours with his nieces and nephews. Rich had a giving nature about him and never hesitated to help anyone in need.

Growing up with beautiful weather and a lake nearby, Richard developed a love for the outdoors. Many of his days were spent by the lake fishing, it was a past that held true throughout his life. He also loved the thrill of a good hunting trip.

Though his path was often winding and the road not always easy, Rich walked it with generosity, humor, and a heart full of love. He was untamed and yet kind. Rich touched the lives of those lucky enough to know him, and they will hold onto the laughter he brought, the love he gave, and the peace he has finally found.

In addition to Parents, and stepmother, Rich is survived by his brothers Walter Stubblefield and his wife Melonie of Ashland, KY and Keith Stubblefield and his wife Crystal also of Ashland, KY, and sisters Jackie Frye of Ashland, KY, Teasi Ray and her husband Shannon of Dade City, FL, Tracy Smith of Palatka, FL, and Gloria Luke and her husband Kevin of Gainesville, GA GA. Also surviving are many special nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Rich was preceded in death by his Stepfather who loved him, Jack Stubblefield and his special nephew Dallas Fox.

Arrangements for Rich will be announced at a later date.
