Richard Earl Gregory, lovingly known as “Bubba”, age 66, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Saturday, August 16, 2025. Richard was born in Virginia on August 5, 1959. He was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe (Pete) Gregory and his mother Letha Gregory Wilkins.
Richard was full of life, love, and laughter. He never met a stranger and was always ready to help those in need, offering a hand, an ear, and a heart full of warmth. His laughter was contagious, his smile a constant source of comfort to family, friends, and even strangers. Above all, he will be remembered for his hugs, and he believed everyone should be embraced with a warm “I love you”.
Richard is survived by his siblings, Faye Marks (David), Patricia Vernon (Keith), Cindy Edwards (Greg); his special partner of 46 years, Herbert Perry; his special cousin, Joanne Pierce, his special niece, Sandra Marks; numerous other special nieces and nephews; and numerous other special family and friends.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Richard’s life will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 6 p.m. in the Chapel of Joyner’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Visitation with the family will be from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. prior to the service in the Chapel of Joyner’s Funeral Home.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Hal B. Woodall in Kenly and the staff at Duke University Hospital for their kindness and tender care during his sickness.
