Humphrey Hugh Gregory, 96, a resident at Kirby Pines Care Center, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis, TN on February 22, 2026. He had lived in Southaven, MS for 50 years and was a native of Tupelo, MS. Visitation and funeral services will be at Carriage Hills Baptist Church with burial to follow at Auburn Baptist Church Cemetery in Tupelo, MS.
Hugh was born to Vernon and Corrine Gregory who were natives of Tupelo. Hugh graduated from East Tupelo High School, attended Itawamba Community College, University of Mississippi, and Memphis State University. Hugh and Mary attended the same elementary school, same Auburn Baptist Church, were childhood friends, teenage sweethearts, and married at the age of 18. God blessed them in the more than 75 years they spent together.
Hugh is a Navy veteran having served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged at the end of his 4 years of service. He then worked for the airlines 27 years and for manufacturing of airline equipment for 5 years. He established Electrical Testing and Maintenance partnership with Ron Gregory and Darrell Sharpe. He retired in 2014 after 20 years of service.
Hugh is preceded in death by his wife Mary Curbow Gregory. He is survived by children: Ronald Gregory (Linda), Debbie Gregory Slautterback (Marty), Sherry Gregory Burrage, grandchildren: Evan Gregory, Robert Slautterback, Ryan Slautterback (Alayna), Andrea Gregory Cooper (Jonathon), Valerie Gregory, greatgrandchildren: Sydney Cooper, Luke Cooper, Nicholas Burrage, Kristen Burrage Elher (Mike).
