Richard Eldon (Ricky) Griggs departed this life on Friday, September 12, 2025 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born on January 20, 1963 to Ernest L. Griggs and Eutha Wiyott Griggs in Osceola, Arkansas.
Ricky proudly served his country in the National Guard before retiring from the Unites States Army as a Sergeant. During his military career, he bravely served in both the Iraq War and Desert Storm War. He was deeply patriotic and found great honor in placing American flags on graves each Memorial Day and Labor Day. A proud member of the American Legion, he was always eager to help others, and he never met a stranger. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, who were his pride and joy. He enjoyed riding the backroads, singing karaoke and was well known for performing his favorite Elvis Presley songs. His legacy will be remembered through his services, his kindness, and the love he shared with those around him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Calvin Griggs, Jerry Wayne Griggs and James Robert Griggs
Ricky is survived by his two sons: Richard Eldon Griggs, Jr., of Etowah, Arkansas and Greg Palmer (Shyann) Paragould, Arkansas, two daughters: Kristen Griggs (Clemente) of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Jessica Griggs (Omar) of Trumann, Arkansas, four brothers: Elvertt Leon Griggs of Harrisburg, Arkansas, Ernest “Shorty” Griggs of Caraway, Arkansas, Stanley Griggs of West Ridge, Arkansas and Michael Griggs (Robin) of Leachville, Arkansas, one sister: Shelby Jean Griggs Pitout (Martin) of Trumann, Arkansas, nine grandchildren: Juan, Carlos, Manuel, Axel, Mateo, Natalie, Fernando, Jazmin and Journey.
A funeral service will be held Friday, September 19, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Delancey Funeral Home in Lepanto.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Delancey Funeral Home in Lepanto.
Brother Rick Kimery will officiate the service.
Interment will follow service at Garden Point Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care of Delancey Funeral Home in Lepanto.
