Richard Jerome Grudzinski was born in Hamtramck, Michigan, and he lived with his parents and two older brothers on the "east side" of metro Detroit. He graduated from DeLaSalle High School, attended the University of Detroit Mercy, and graduated with his Bachelor's degree in business.
Rich and Rose began dating in 1967, and were married on June 4, 1971. Their love for each other was an example for all. They raised their three children, Sara, Alan & Lisa, with love and encouragement. They enjoyed spending time together at family gatherings, sporting events, weekend outings to the beach and parks, and vacations to places near and far. Rich and Rose were actively involved in their parish at Our Lady of the Woods.
Rich began his career as a warehouse manager at Firestone Tire, then spent the next season of his life raising kids, and working in a variety of roles from Toledo to Carleton. Rich had a great sense of humor and a super memory. He was the one who always knew the answer to the most obscure trivia questions! Rich's happy place was "by the water" watching the freighters go by. He enjoyed woodworking projects, listening to the Eagles, working around his house, and always finding a way to make someone else's day. He was the first to offer to help you with any variety of things.
Rich could be found each morning at Tim Horton's with his buddies, heading somewhere new for Wednesday lunch with the "car guys," and leaving the screen door open for visits from his best furry neighbor, Quincy, after his afternoon nap. Rich's quiet kindness has had a wide-reaching impact. He will be missed by many.
