Richard A. Hackerd, age 80, of Canton passed away April 15, 2023. He was born January 3, 1943 in Detroit, MI and was preceded in death by his parents, the late Earl and Lillian Hackerd (Tonkin); brothers, Lester Hackerd and William Hackerd; and step-son, Keith Dahlen. Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene Hackerd (Guerino); sons, Richard E. (Elizabeth) Hackerd of Cleveland, Ronald William, II (Katrina) Morgan of Jupiter, FL, Richard C. Hackerd of West Palm Beach, FL, and Kevin Andrew Hackerd of Canton; daughers, Tina Marie (Bruce) Meyers of Panama City Beach, FL and Teri Christine (Mario) Rios of West Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren, Jessica Fawn Hackerd and Jasmine Nicole Hackerd; and, great-grandchild, Richard Benjamin Hackerd.
Richard was a 1961 graduate of Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn, MI, where he played football and ran track and field. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and later went on to become an Electrical Engineer for Hoover of North Canton. When computers were first being used throughout the country, Richard traveled to businesses in the area installing computer systems with Pitney Bowes. Being skilled technology and development, Richard also designed and created a crane machine. He enjoyed watching the FOX News channel and keeping up on current events. Apart from his love for his work and the growing world around him, the main love of his life was his wife, Darlene. He lived his life for her. Richard's contributions to society and devotion to his wife and family will be his lasting legacies as his memory is cherished in years to come.
In honor of his wishes, no services will be held. The family has entrusted Richard's care to Reed Funeral Home. Please visit reedfuneralhome.com to share condolences.
