Thank you Gina for contacting me. I'm so sorry to not have known until now. Val and I were very close to Rick for years. We hadn't been in touch as much over the last few years, but I just talked to him a couple of months ago. We spent a lot of time golfing, restoring vehicles, hunting, water skiing and snow skiing together. He sold us his water ski boat 37 years ago in Wyoming and we sold it back to him a few years later. We all skied together in the same boat up until fairly recently here in Arizona. Rick was like a brother to me and Val and her family have known him since the early 70's. We miss you Rick. I know we'll see you again some day in a better place.

I don't know if I can offer anything that hasn't already been said about Rick. I have encountered him off and on over the better part of 17 years, but the last few I have been able to work closer with him as we were assigned to the same crew at United Airlines.

He was a great aircraft mechanic and sheet metal technician. He was very knowledgeable about a lot of different things because he had incredible common sense. He said that he liked that about me and his words were that I was "one of the few that knew what was actually going on". I will cherish those words now forever.

Rick was an all around good human, always helping, always sharing. He would share his knowledge at the drop of a hat, all you had to do was ask. He be there with advice, a wrench, or just a cup of coffee which he made nightly because he said that he could make a better pot than the last one. Lets not forget that he all of the stories that he would share with us about everything!

I was there at his service and the turn out was good, that speaks to the kind of guy that he was. I was moved by all of the stories that the people shared speaking at his service before, during and afterwards. There were tears, there was laughter talking and remembering him. It was a pleasure to meet some of the family and his wife and kids. Everybody was great and we all shared in their grief because we will all miss Rick existing along with us here on Earth. As they said, GOD must have needed a few things fixed up in Heaven and IMHO they for sure called in the best guy for the job!

I personally know quite a few others that really wanted to go, but couldn't for various reasons and they truly felt bad. I feel like I represented those guys.

Rick was a great all around great guy, both in his personal life but in his professional life as well. He did nothing but give and help. For that we all will miss him daily. Godspeed Rick Helton, I'm one of the many that will really miss you!

Rick was a great friend, I lived countless hours through the adventures of his life as told by him! He has been one of the greatest assets to me during my entire career at United. Rick was so full of information about all things and was never to busy to share it or offer advice. I will miss him greatly as I would miss a brother, tho well lived his life was too short.

Ricky was an awesome knowledgeable mechanic. He was an even better friend. Ricky loved to talk. I spent many hours in conversation with him. If I needed info on something he was usually my go to guy. If he needed his computer fixed I was his go to guy. I didn`t mind that at all. It was a good way to pay him back for all he did for me. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that he is gone. Life seems so sureal right now. Ricky I will miss you. I will miss saying hi to you at the end of my shift and the beginning of yours. Rest in peace my friend.
