Teresa G. Helton

Teresa G. Helton, age 66, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, at her home. Teresa was born on November 10, 1958, in Richlands, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Burton VanDyke and Doris Fuller VanDyke. She was a 1977 graduate of Richlands High School and later earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse, working at Heritage Hall for 43 years. She loved her job and working with her coworkers, and she enjoyed taking care of her patients. Teresa loved her grandkids and loved attending church at Open Door Community Church in Baptist Valley. She loved sitting on her porch. And she loved to listen to the scanner to see what was going on. She was an extraordinary woman; to know her was to love her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Dale Helton. She is survived by: Her Daughters: Christeena Goodman and her husband, Bobby of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Shania Hagerman and her husband, JD of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Son, Cody Helton and his wife, Olivia of Leland, North Carolina Grandkids: Ryan Goodman, Caiden Goodman, Aubrey Goodman, Sadie Helton, and Kensley Helton. Sister, Neica Stiltner and her husband, Mitchell of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Brother, Dicky VanDyke and his wife, Rhonda of Raven, Virginia Step-Mother, Margaret Vandyke of Raven, VA Stepsisters: Barbara Fuller of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Patsy Fuller of Johnson City, Tennessee Several stepbrothers also survive, along with a host of family and friends. Funeral services for Teresa G. Helton will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia, with Rev. Charlie McGlothlin, Rev. Jeff Rose, and Rev. Greg Baldwin officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Dean Rose, Caiden Goodman, Ryan Goodman, A. J. Stiltner, Payton Armes, Cody Helton, Daylon Stinson, and Davin Stinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Elkins, Todd Elkins, Cory Compton, James Newberry, and Danny Stinson. The Helton family will receive friends from 12-1 pm on Thursday afternoon at the funeral home.
