Claude Douglas Dye, Jr. (Douglas), age 52, of Richlands VA, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at his home. He was born on July 30, 1972, in
Richlands, VA, to Claude Douglas Dye, Sr. and Patricia June Dye of Richlands VA. At the age of 18, Douglas enlisted in the Army National Guard, embarking on a distinguished and honorable 28-year career. Doug (Claude) exemplified the values of loyalty, integrity, and selfless sacrifice. Doug rose to the rank of E7 First Class Sergeant and served in two tours of active wars to include Iraqi Freedom. During his tenure in the Military National Guard, he also worked for the Department of Corrections at Keen Mountain, VA, spanning over a 28-year period. Douglas served his country with honor and loved his family. Douglas enjoyed spending time at New River camping and fishing as well as he liked to hunt. Nothing meant more to him than his family. Douglas was a source of inspiration and guidance to many, always willing to lend a helping hand and offer words of encouragement. His quiet strength, unwavering patriotism, and kind spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Douglas was the cherished spouse of Linda Meadows Dye for 25 years. He was a loving Father, to Isabella Dye/David Horning, Andrew Douglas Dye/Dallas Leadingham, Andrew Austin Meadows, Staci Grace Dye and Bryce Tyler Dye, and a devoted grandparent to Arabella Horning, Ava Horning, David Douglas Horning; half-sister, Melissa Hughes; and brother, William Dye (Sarah Elizabeth). Douglas was preceded in death by his son, Bryce Tyler Dye, His mother Patrica June Dye, and his father Claude Douglas Dye Sr. A celebration of life will be held preceding his funeral services at Cornerstone Tabernacle in Cedar Bluff VA. Funeral services for Claude Douglas Dye, Jr., will be conducted at 11 AM on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in
Richlands, Virginia, with Rev. Rick Whitt officiating. Interment will follow at Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in
Richlands, VA. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers. Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 will conduct military graveside rites, and the Keen Mountain Correctional Center Honor Guard will conduct honors.
