Richard Lee Helton, a beloved husband, father, and friend, of Grove City, passed away on October 13, 2025. Born on July 26, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio, Richard was lovingly raised by his Uncle Kenny and Aunt Donna Smith, who instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion that he carried throughout his life.
A proud 1963 graduate of Lanier High School in West Alexandria, Ohio, Richard went on to serve his country as an Army Medic. His dedication to service continued throughout his impressive career at General Motors, where he served as a foreman for over 33 years. A true patriot, he was an active member of the West Alexandria American Legion-OH Post 0322 for more than 50 years.
Richard had a passion for restoring street rods, an interest that saw him become a two-time National Grand Champion at the Columbus Street Rod Nationals. His leadership skills shone through as he served as President of the Over the Hill Gang Car Club. In his free time, Richard could often be found casting a line on serene waters or enjoying the timeless tunes of the 50s and 60s, always with a smile on his face.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Shirley Helton; his sons, Richie (Stephanie) Helton and Craig (Shauna) Burns; and his cherished grandchildren, Rylyn Helton, Craiging (Taylor) Burns, and Colton Burns.
