Richard "Rick" William Hicks, age 60, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends, at his residence in Slidell, Louisiana, on April 11, 2025, after a valiant struggle with terminal cancer.
Born in Rochester, New York, on January 20, 1965, Rick is survived by his parents, Sandy and Bill Hicks (both of Oneida, New York), and his siblings, Scott Hicks (Saratoga Springs), Lori Hicks (Oneida), Todd Hicks and his wife, Kristin (Oneida), and Kipp Hicks and his wife, Jody (Oneida). His son, Hunter Hicks, and his wife, Morgan, reside in Slidell, Louisiana, where Rick had resided for the past three decades. Rick cherished his nephews and nieces, Jake, Luke, Abigail, Canyon, Aidan, Ajay, Mattie, Drew, Fischer, Walter, and George Hicks.
Rick completed his secondary education at VVS High School in 1983 and subsequently pursued his studies at Herkimer Community College, affectionately known as "Harvard on the Hill." He earned his degree from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1987.
Rick's professional career spanned several decades, during which he distinguished himself as a sales representative at Oneida Limited Silversmiths and The Vollrath Company. His exceptional contributions were recognized in 2014, when he was awarded the prestigious DSM of the Year.
In his leisure time, Rick enjoyed attending live music events with his close companions and family. He possessed a passion for sports, excelling in tennis and soccer during his high school years and club lacrosse in college. In retirement, he embraced various recreational activities, including: pickleball, foosball, darts, dominoes, poker, and horse racing.
Rick possessed an innate ability to connect with others and cultivate meaningful relationships. He was characterized by generosity, kindness, courage, and an unwavering commitment to living life to the fullest.

Over the years I have worked with many factory reps but Rick was one of my favorites. Always came in with a smile and a wonderfully pleasant attitude. Going out of his way to do whatever I needed at the time.
I am so sorry for your loss, he is gone way too soon. I will keep his family in my prayers.
With my deepest sympathy,
Carol Zulli

Rick and I were college buds and stuck together for a few years afterward in Florida and Nantucket sharing apartments and many good times, in simpler times. We didn´t have a lot back then, but we had real friendship and each other´s back. He was a unique personality, always finding the humor in life and finding a way to enjoy it, no matter the circumstances, which I admire a lot. I´m glad I had a chance to visit with him right before he passed and tell him how much he meant to me. I´ll miss him for sure.

Rick was such a competitor out here playing pickleball with us. Him and I would go back and forth with jabs to get each other to play hard. I loved his many stories about upstate New York and the track. I am a lifelong Yankee fan and he seemed to like talking all sports. Gonna miss that guy. RIP my friend your suffering is over. See ya on the other side
