Richard Martin Houts

Richard Martin Houts, age 87, passed away on November 30, 2025, at his home in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born on January 29, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan.
Richard earned his GED and later received his Heating & Cooling (HVAC) certification. He spent much of his life self-employed in custom cabinetry and remodeling, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and lifelong talent for building and woodworking.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a 32nd degree Mason, and a Shriner. In his free time, Richard enjoyed woodworking and creating projects with his hands, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life.
Richard was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Ann Weaver of Louisville, Tennessee, and also his wives Marie Houts of East Point, Michigan and Roseann Houts of Knoxville, Tennessee.
He is survived by his daughter, Ruth Houts of Knoxville, Tennessee; daughter Karen Hamden and son-in-law, Edward Hamden; and grandsons, Oscar and Dylan Hamden, all of Roseville, Michigan. He is also survived by his son, Richard Houts II, and daughter-in-law, Mellissa Houts, both of Roseville, Michigan; granddaughters Sylvia, Kelly, and Kristal Boatman; and great-granddaughter, Jade Boatman.
