Richard Carlton Howe

"Budge"

Budge Howe, age 83, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away on September 27, 2025.

At an early age, Budge was given his lifelong nickname by his sister, Nancy Bode - a name he carried proudly from that moment on.

Budge was born on May 4, 1942, in Sweetwater, Texas, the son of Richard Lee and Juanita Kathryn Howe. He graduated from Lampasas High School.

On September 12, 1964, Budge married the love of his life, Martha "Marty" Phillips. Together they began their life in Lake Jackson, Texas, and were married for 57 years until Marty lost her battle with cancer on January 29, 2021.

Budge and Marty were blessed with two children, Robin Leigh and Terry Allen.

Budge was truly a jack of all trades. His career path reflected his curiosity, intelligence, and skill - from his early work as a chemist to his final employment with Sasol, where he worked faithfully until his retirement in 2004.

He had an incredible gift for creating, repairing, and building - a talent he inherited from his father, who could fix anything with ease. A talented craftsman, Budge could repair, design, and construct nearly anything he set his mind to. He built their forever home in Round Rock, Texas, crafting many parts of it with his own hands.

Woodworking brought him great joy. He lovingly hand-crafted wooden toy cars and

personalized blocks for each grandchild to help them learn to spell their names - even

building special boxes to hold each set. Budge continued creating wooden objects, puzzles, and keepsakes until shortly before his passing.

He also enjoyed collecting knives and guns, and - true to his creative nature - built beautiful wooden stands to display his knife collection.

Budge and Marty loved to travel and explore new places, always returning home with stories and smiles to share.

Budge will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle humor, and deep love for his family and friends.

Budge is survived by his daughter, Robin Leigh Lindell, her husband Kevin, and their children Erica and her husband Josh, and Trevor and his wife Caitlin, and by his son, Terry Allen, his wife Lori, and their children, Avery and Payton.

He is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Jaden, John David, and Jaxon.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society in

Budge's memory.

He was a very sweet person, always smiling - a true reflection of the love he carried in his heart.
