MR. RICHARD DAVID JOHNSON, JR., age 58, of 466 South Gray Street in Millen, GA, passed on Sunday, October 26th, 2025, at the Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA. Family members and friends may call at the residence or at the funeral home. THOMSON FUNERAL SYSTEM, Thomson, GA oversees all arrangements.
MR. RICHARD DAVID JOHNSON, JR. was born on Wednesday, February 21, 1968, in Augusta (Richmond County), GA to both the late Adora Butler Johnson and Richard David Johnson, Sr. On Monday, October 27, 2025, he peacefully departed this earthly life at the Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA.
At a young age, Richard, Jr. embraced his faith and accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ as his personal savior. He attended the Olive Grove Baptist Church of Appling, GA. Richard, Jr. received his education by attending the public school system of Columbia County, GA. He was a proud graduate of the Harlem High School in Harlem, GA.
In addition to his parents, Richard, Jr. is preceded in death by one sister, Dora "CJ" Dorsey, and one brother, Dwayne D. Johnson. Richard, Jr. will be missed more than words could possibly say. We trust in God's Word, so we know that we will see him again on that sweet day!
Our dearly beloved Richard David Johnson, Jr. leaves many precious memories to be forever cherished by those who have survived him: a loving wife, Latonia Ann "Tonya" Bunyon Johnson of Millen, GA; one brother, Myron R. Johnson of Grovetown, GA; a mother-in-law, Helen Bunyon of Midville, GA; six sisters-in-law; seven brothers-in-law; three aunts, Annie L. Butler of Grovetown, GA, Mary H. Butler and Cindy Johnson, both of Augusta, GA; two uncles, Leroy Butler and Simmie Johnson, Jr., both of Augusta, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
