Obituary of Richard Edward Jones

Richard Edward Jones, 73, of Belvidere, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home on September 20, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.

Born on February 20, 1952, in Somerville, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Charles and Anna Jones. Richard grew up in Washington, New Jersey, and graduated from Warren Hills Regional High School in 1970.

Following graduation, Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he began his career as a chemical engineer in Port Murray at what is now Borealis Compounds Inc., where he worked for over 40 years with dedication and loyalty, forming lasting friendships along the way.

Richard married the late Sharon Jones (née Wiles), and together they built a loving home in Belvidere, where they raised their son, Jeremiah. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Outside of work, Richard found joy in tending his garden. Known for his remarkable green thumb, he cultivated everything from roses to apple trees and delighted in sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends.

Richard is survived by his son, Jeremiah "Jerry" Jones, and his girlfriend Alysse; his cherished grandchildren, Jonah and Isabelle Jones; his brothers, Donald, Howard, Robert, and Michael Jones; and his sisters, Patricia Pace and Kathleen Eick. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sharon, in 2018; his brother, Johnny Jones; and his parents, Charles and Anna Jones.

Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Knoll-DeVoe Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 142 West Washington Ave., Washington, New Jersey 07882. Cremation will follow privately.
