Richard Gordon "Gordy" Kerr, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, left this world on May 23, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on October 11, 1958, in Flint, Michigan, to the late William James and Shirley M. Allen, Gordy was a beacon of laughter and love throughout his life. He passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Gordy was a devoted family man, having married the love of his life, Pamela Mae McArthur, on August 25, 1979, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Flushing. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, Lindsay Marie, Dusten (son in law) Gregory and Richard Gordon Jr. "Ricky," who in turn filled Gordy's life with the joy of grandchildren: Hailey, Brooklyn, Cameron, Jesse, and Ashley. He is also survived by his brother William "Jimmy" (Lynn) Kerr and brother-in-law Mike Tunk. Gordy was preceded in death by his sister, Debra Elaine Tunk, but leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss his guidance and humor.
A proud graduate of Flushing High School's class of 1977, Gordy was known for his strong opinions and never shied away from sharing his thoughts. His work ethic was unparalleled, reflected in his long and dedicated career at Flint General Motors, from which he retired. In retirement, Gordy discovered a passion for restoring Rupp Mini Bikes, a hobby that combined his mechanical genius with his love for nostalgia.
Gordy's interests were as varied as they were spirited. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace in deer hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. His love for the outdoors was only matched by his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Family events were the highlight of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.
Those who knew Gordy will remember him as the life of the party-funny, generous, and incredibly handy. His quick wit could lighten any mood, and his generosity knew no bounds. Gordy was the kind of man who would go out of his way to help a neighbor or teach a grandchild how to bait a hook. His hands were rarely still, always working on a project or fixing what was broken, leaving a legacy of love and craftsmanship.
A Celebration of his life will be held at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home- STANDISH CHAPEL on Saturday May 31, 2025 from 11 am until 4 pm with family sharing of memories of Gordy. Gordy's final resting place will be at Esmond Evergreen Cemetery in Hale Michigan.
