Richard Andrew Koslow (87)
Of Springfield, VA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Loving husband to the late Carol Ann Koslow; beloved father to John Koslow (Carolyn), Kathleen Larson (Robert), and Edward Koslow (Karen); grandfather to eight grandchildren; great-grandfather to fifteen great grandchildren. He will truly be missed by many.
Richard was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. Rich and Carol met when he was 12 years old and he was sure from that point that they would be together. They tied the knot several years later and enjoyed nearly 65 years of marriage.
Upon graduating from high school, Rich joined the United States Air Force and served our nation with courage, honor, and extreme pride from 1957-1985. Rich is a decorated combat veteran of Vietnam. Throughout his military career, Rich excelled as a military Communications and Electronic Systems specialist, maintenance technician, supervisor, and instructor. He continued his education and completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Mt. Saint Mary's University. He ascended the ranks retiring after nearly 28 years as Senior Enlisted Advisor at the Defense Communications Agency as a Chief Master Sergeant.
Rich dedicated his life to his faith, family, and country. He was a devout Catholic and was active in his parish. He enjoyed music and shared this gift by singing and playing guitar in the choir. Rich participated actively in family activities and within his community, holding various volunteer and community service roles such as an Assistant Scout Master with the Boy Scouts, president of the homeowner's association, and volunteering with numerous other service organizations. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Polish Falcons of America, VFW, and American Legion as well as many other organizations. Rich loved meeting and talking with people. He was a talented cartoonist and shared this passion by drawing personalized cards and sharing his cartoons with everyone around him. His cartoon cards were a highlight for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for all holidays and special occasions.

It is with a sad heart that I write my condolences to my cousin Richard family. My thoughts of Richard go back so many years ago when I was a young girl living in Pittsburgh. Richard was my mother, Josie favorite nephew, so when he would stop in after school, she would be so happy to see him. Exclaiming to me and my other sisters,Nancy and Linda, that Richard is here. He loved our baby sister Elaine, too. We had no other choice but to love him as much as Mommy did. It was easy to love him. Richard was always so happy and thoughtful. He would always spend a little bit of time with each of us girls. We did not see Richard that often after he joined the Air Force, but if you wrote and mailed him a letter, he always wrote back. A thrill for any young girl. The years passed and moved forward. I did hear from Richard a few years ago, and he called me cousin Carol, and it warmed my heart, taking me back to a comfortable place of years ago. I found out for myself that the years did not change him at all. Richard told me stories and songs of love for his beloved, Carol. Thank you , cousin Richard for adding shared joy and caring to a young girl life. Richard was a good man .
