Heavy hearted, we regret to inform all that Richard Dale Kramer has passed from this life to the next, joining Jesus and his beloved mother Marsha. He will be grievously missed by all of those who were lucky enough to know him, especially his doting wife of 24 years, Bonnie. He passed peacefully on November 5, 2025, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana, with loved ones by his side.
Born to mother Marsha (Mattingly) and father Herb Kramer in Greenfield, Indiana, he proudly served in the US Navy and graduated from Ball State University. Rick leaves behind a legacy, including his son Josh (Jenna Brodkowski) Kramer, "bonus" children Bryan Arnold and Allendra (Kyle) Mortimer, and siblings Herb Jr. (Teri) Kramer, Lisa (Roger) Tappy, Carolyn (Bill) Worland, Michelle (Greg) Weaver and Jenny Kramer.
He was often looked up to by those who knew him as "Big Rick" and was a singularly unique man. According to The Bible, the characteristics of a godly husband are, mortifies pride/selfishness, demonstrates sacrificial love, seeks patience, understanding and honoring, and demonstrates servant leadership. Rick innately had all these traits in spades, and the most wonderful sense of humor to boot. Thankfully, it doesn't mention needing two eyes (but who's perfect, right?). While never feeling the need to follow any trends, he was a true trendsetter, passing along his admiral attributes to those privileged enough to know him. Always thinking of others, nothing warmed his heart more than providing for others and seeing his loved ones' appreciation was its own perfect reward. Although collectively we are still in shock by this massive loss, there will always be comfort in the knowledge that he will be there to greet us in the future.
Yeah, we ain't gonna live forever
Only one time around, it's true
Reach up and grab yourself a fistful of everything
Don't mind if I do
-Charles "Charlie Starr" Webb Gray
